Have you ever been to Epcot’s Food & Wine Festival

It’s epic.  Ask anyone in Orlando and they will rave about it! We go annually and it is a day I always look forward too.
Food + Wine + Disney…sign me up!  If you’re not from Orlando and you’ve never been I suggest you plan a trip one year.  I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

That brings me to this week’s What I Ate Wednesday.  All about my trip around the world at Epcot this Sunday.

I was lucky enough to have 2 trips to Food & Wine this year.  The first was with our friends and was more focused on the latter.  The wine!

Fist pumpkin in Italy. Naturally.

Last Sunday I scored a second trip as part of my birthday celebration.  This trip was focused on food and spending a gorgeous Sunday with my gorgeous husband.

We were only there for a few hours, but that was plenty of time to take in the sights, taste some delights, and view a culinary demonstartion from a registered dietitian.

If you have no idea about Food & Wine Festival at Epcot here’s what their website says:

A food and wine lover’s paradise awaits you this fall at Epcot Theme Park with the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, held September 30 to November 13, 2011.

From tasty tapas and refreshing beverages to celebrity chef demonstrations and rock star performances, there’s something to satisfy most every taste and interest.

There seriously is something for everyone.  There are 25 kiosks offering food and wine from that particular country. The foods range from $3- $5 a plate with wines about the same price.  There’s also plenty of beers and desserts to nibble on too.  In addition there are daily culinary demonstrations and specialty wine tastings as well as concerts each night.  Hanson was there this week! MMMBop!
Here’s a look at our global eats:
– Australia: Grilled Shrimp on the barbie with a berry citrus glaze; Penfolds Chardonnay
-Argentina: Grilled beef skewer with Chimichurri sauce and bonita puree
-Germany: Nurenberger sausage in a pretzel roll *Kyle’s favorite*
USA: Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat beer
-Canada: Chicken chipotle sausage with sweet corn polenta *Carissa’s favorite*
-Morocco: Baklava

As I said before we also took in a culinary demo at the Festival Center with Pamela Smith, RD.  It was fun to see someone doing a job that I aspire to do after I get my RD.
She made a delicious lemon-thyme rubbed salmon with arugula, goat cheese, and raspberries.  I’ll share the total recipe later this week.  Kyle, who typically doesn’t like fish, really enjoyed it.
I couldn’t think of a better way to wrap up my birthday weekend.  Thank you to Cindy for giving us the Disney tickets and booking our culinary demo.
Shout out to Duffy the Disney Bear: I’m obsessed!
Have you ever been to Food & Wine or an event like this?
