Stand By Me – Wedding Music

Posted: September 19, 2011 in about us, milestones

I still have 2 hours left of my wedding anniversary.  So let’s talk wedding music.

Anybody out there wedding planning?  I can honestly say that my favorite part of the planning process was the music selection.  I have always been a fan of “music for the moment” and I loved deciding which tunes fit which part of our special day.

Kyle and I spent hours downloading iTunes jams to pick out the perfect mix for our day.  It didn’t hurt to have a kick butt DJ too who actually did what we wanted.

Funny story – my friend Bree actually won an award for worst DJ’s ever. They drank all her booze and messed up the music.  And she didn’t win an award, but enough time has passed that we can laugh at it! 🙂
Here’s a look at the songs which made such an impact on our special day.

My dancing machine.
Processional:
“Over the Rainbow” – Isreal K’wakio……I don’t know how to spell it!
“Life is Wonderful” – Jason Mraz
Bride’s Entrance:
“Don’t Stop Believing” -Vitamin Strings Quartet
Recessional:
“8 Days a Week” – The Beatles
“Lucky” – Jason Mraz and Coblie Callait
Reception Entrance:
“Wanna Be Starting Something” – Michael Jackson
First Dance:
“Feels Like Home” Chantal Kreviziak
Father/Daughter:
“Stealing Cinderella” – Chuck Wicks
Mother/Son:
“What a Wonderful World” – Louis Armstrong
Dinner Music:
Only Frank Sinatra “Rat Pack” like tunes in honor of our grandfathers
Kyle dancing with Victoria our youngest guest.
Bouquet Toss:
“L.O.V.E” Ashlee Simpson
Kyle’s choice:
“Got Money” Lil Wayne
MJ Montage:
“Man in the Mirror”, “Billie Jean”, “Thriller”
Serious breakdown.
Last Dance:
“Stand by Me” – Ben King

My fave song of the whole night was “Stand by Me”.  Seriously.  What an amazing song!  I think the way you leave you wedding leaves an impression on your marriage.  Stand by Me is definitely a theme we live up to.

Well, this post had nothing to do with fitness….BUT…a healthy marriage makes everything better.

I cooked Kyle a FAB meal tonight complete with pumpkin spice cupcakes that I’ll share tomorrow.

Now I shall go watch my fantasy team which has 138 points lose and then I’ll take a little 6am run.  Who knew 1 year old frozen wedding cake icing could be soooo good!

Love and dance moves,
Carissa & Kyle
